Default Is there an expiration date for pheromones? Best way to store them.

This was a question I have been wondering for a while. Is there an expiration date for pheromones? And what is the best way to store the pheromones. So I searched high and low in the forums and couldn't really find an definitive answer so I decided to start a thread for it, for anyone else that might wonder the same thing.

I finally got the answer from Emma using the chat that started on the androtics direct website last month and she's really amazingly patient! She shared with me that there isn't really an expiration. We *say* 36 months because that's a fairly good rule of thumb, but like fine wines, some of the fragrances ( A314 in particular) age better with time.

It seems that when it comes to storing pheromones, she advised to store in a cool dark place (back of closet or fridge. But if in fridge, sometimes the fragrance oil parts can separate, so simply warm the vial up in your hands with body heat or give it a gentle shake.

However do take note that heat will break down any cosmetic or perfume, so no leaving it on your dashboard when you are somewhere hot and humid.

Another thing I have noticed over the last few years in experimenting with pheromones is that the lasting duration and efficiency is affected by the climate and temperature from where I am from. The temperature in my environment here easily ranges from 24-33 degrees. Mostly on an average of 30 degrees in the day. It makes me sweat and I find that the effect wears off much faster especially when exposed to the hot weather and sweating. I am just super glad that they have now launched the oil series and I just made purchase not long. I look forward to testing and experiencing the oils.

Now I make sure I store them FAR AWAY from the windows or any source of heat, safely in my dark cardboard. I thought this information was useful and wanted to share with the rest

I have some of mine that are I got from another member that are probably 6-7 years old and I don`t notice any degradation from them at all. I think the key is to like you mentioned is store in a typical room temp of around 60-80 degrees and just make sure the bottles are sealed with the caps being on tight and also another factor is light. Make sure they are in a dark place because light over time and may with them to. I sometimes take all my bottles out of the closet and give them a good shake up once a month so there is no separation.

Hi Justin,

Thanks for sharing Its nice to know that after 6-7 years there wasn't any degradation in your case. I was thinking after reading what you shared that in my case it might also be affected differently due to the hot temperatures in my country all year round.

I actually do keep the bottles that I'm not using in my cardboard too, but find that the smell has changed after 2 years. After my post the other day, I also tested ones with the smell change and find that the results was not as strong or positive as before. But I must say this is not a consistent cause for all as I think the ones which smell are ok, are still ok? Honestly if there's a way to prolong their life span without any changes, I'll be psyched! I'll try shaking my bottles every now and then like you mentioned

I also spotted a color change in some of my sprays stored in my cardboard. It was originally a light tint, but now its a darker hue. I was wondering if you experienced the same so I may compare notes too. After all I love that this is a learning process

I have got this same dark tint you are talking about mainly with MXS where there are more than one pheromone in a bottle I have noticed with mine. It is just some of the contents settling and now what I do is once a month I take every bottle out and give it a good shake and this does not happen anymore.

The ones that did have the tint I did not notice any degradation at all. Only if I get a sour smell and the dark tint have they gone bad. You will know by the smell because it will be a very sour odor type of smell.

What I have done also is all my Togo bottles is I have bought some PTFE thread tape(made for threaded plumbing pipe) and take the tops of my Togo bottle and put 2-3 wraps of this stuff on the threads(Important to not you HAVE to wrap it clockwise or to the right or it will not work) and I have not hade any Togo bottle leak yet with it so I know they are sealed.

I have had some for even longer than 6-7 years with no spoilage or loss. I keep them in a dark place, tightly sealed, at about 70 degrees year round. I assume they are still good as they still have that pheromone smell.
